Foreign Students Department

The Russian State Medical University has gained considerable experience in
the foreign students training. Since 1960 over 2000 specialists from more
than 80 countries have been trained there. The University's diploma is
recognized in most foreign states. During the recent years, the number of
the foreign students has increased to over 580.
At the Preparatory Course the foreigners learn Russian, Physics,
Chemistry, and Biology during one year. All the students, interns, and
postgraduates are provided with the hostel accommodation located near
their study buildings.
The training of foreign students is done on a compensatory basis.
Foreigners learn in groups of seven students each together with the
Russians. The second-year foreign students attend clinics where they gain
experience in working with patients. Clinical subjects are taught
beginning from the third year of study.
Scientific societies are working in all the departments enabling students
to study any topic of interest and to raise their level of knowledge.
After passing the state examinations, the graduates receive their Doctor
of Medicine degree. RSMU effects the postgraduate
education of foreigners
in the internship, postgraduate studentship, and doctorate in all
clinical specialties and provides probation opportunities (short-term
probation included).
In 1997 the English Language Department was
opened where some subjects are
taught in English. The students have the University library at their
disposal where literature can be found in Russian and foreign languages.
Although studies are the most important thing, there is time devoted to
sports and entertainment. There are many sports, social and cultural
activities. Foreign students can attend different sport such as tennis,
volleyball, basketball, football, unarmed combat, judo, etc.
Presently the University continuously admits not only young men and women
from the countries of South and South-East Asia, Middle East and Northern
Africa but from Europe as well.
The strong Preparatory Faculty, the hostel with comfortable living
conditions, the English Language Department of the Medical Faculty has
raised RSMU to one of the best medical schools.
